Clinical Services

Our primary clinical interests are General Psychiatry, Medical Psychiatry, Complementary and Integrative Psychiatry, Cross-Cultural Psychiatry, the intersection of Psychiatry and Psychiatric Nursing, and Neurodevelopmental Disorders, with a focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our other interests include treating the mental health needs of the LGBTQIA+ community.

We have experience treating various chronic psychiatric conditions for patients aged 18 and older, which are listed below. If there is a condition you need treatment for that is not listed below, please contact us, and we will be happy to perform an evaluation to determine if our services are right for you.

Having practiced at three of the largest hospital systems in California and Illinois, our founder appreciates the benefits that patients receive when their providers work collaboratively. We maintain this approach at YOU Psychiatry Clinic, where appropriate, to ensure our patients maximize their care with us. Please see our Policies section regarding the consents necessary for us to communicate with any other provider.

In psychiatry, the most robust short-term and long-term benefits are derived from combining medication management with psychotherapy. The goal of this process is to help patients earn insights and establish coping skills to use in their daily lives. In some cases, psychotherapy and healthy lifestyle guidance are more beneficial as the first steps in treatment than medication. Depending on a patient’s unique clinical presentations and needs, most visits will combine psychotherapy and medication management. Different psychotherapy approaches will be implemented and modified over time as clinically appropriate.

Diagnostic Tests

We will order labs and EKG tests as clinically indicated as part of your comprehensive treatment plan. While treating your psychiatric conditions, we also monitor your medical conditions. We will give recommendations and collaborate with your PCP and other specialists as needed.

We offer The GeneSight Psychotropic Test or Tempus Genetic Test as clinically indicated upon thorough psychiatric and psychotropic history evaluations. This is a pharmacogenomic test that analyzes clinically important genetic variations that may affect outcomes with certain medications that are commonly prescribed to treat depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia disorder, and other mental health conditions. Results often give providers information about which medications may require dose adjustments, may be less likely to work for you, or may have an increased risk of side effects based on your genetic makeup. However, please note that the test does not provide a guarantee as to the efficacy of prescribed psychotropics; rather, it is a tool to help us understand how your body’s genetic makeup interacts with and metabolizes the medications. The test is useful because it can help us prescribe the right medication in appropriate dosages that may have fewer unwanted side effects.
